Recently there has been a video shown on television and across the Internet of a female and the 30 seconds it takes to change the average looking woman into a thing of beauty. The female with the perfect body and face; and although many of us realize the video for what it was, there are many others out there that believe this is what they need to look like to be happy.
Let me put this out there…there is no perfect body EXCEPT the one you wake up in. Accept what you are now and move forward making the changes you need to get to your perfect body. The thing to realize is to get that “perfect body” and be healthy there is a process, a journey that needs to be taken. It’s your journey and it will not be the same as anyone else. It takes time, commitment and huge doses of reality along the way. A person also must realize that it is a lifelong journey. You will never arrive at your destination (or perfect body) and be done.
Have you ever compared yourself to others, thinking they are in much better shape then I am? When you look at another person and think they have the “perfect body,” they are just further along on their journey to being healthy and fit. Let them inspire you to follow your path to beauty, health and fitness, don’t compare yourself; don’t do exactly what they are, you are at a different point on your journey with different ups and downs. Figure out what works for you and start from there.
When you first start think about one change at a time. Starting to work out twice a week is enough of a change to get you going on your path. Thirty minutes is all you need. I’ve had clients tell me they have never liked exercise, but once they started doing an exercise they enjoyed and was appropriate for them, they love it and miss it when they don’t work out.
Start to make small changes in your nutrition habits. Remember small steps will lead to big results. Start with eliminating certain items you know you should not eat or drink. And replace them with healthier options. It’s a start and will lead to watching what and how much you eat and drink.
Most important though is to never feel like a failure if you haven’t been able to be consistent when changing your exercise or nutrition habits. Just stay on the path, making progress with what you can do.
As you progress on your journey to your perfect body, the one that is meant for you, you will have ups and downs, there will be bumps and potholes, expect it, deal with it and continue on the journey. Along the way you will learn a lot about yourself and your body, how to be physically and mentally at your best, and what truly it the perfect body for you.
