- Using a straw: You may think that this is a silly mistake but it can turn out to be something bad. Usually on the first date you are trying to pay attention to everything the other person is saying so you don’t really want to look down. If you use a straw you have to look down to see where it is in your glass. If you don’t look down you’ll be chasing the straw with your mouth around the glass and then you just look silly.
- Not eating: Who cares if your date doesn’t eat, if you are hungry eat. Girls tend to do this more than boys. They think if the guy doesn’t eat they shouldn’t either. Trust me if you eat ladies, it will impress the boys more than not eating. And if you want the cheeseburger get the cheeseburger, not the salad because you want to be girly.
- Over thinking how you look: Don’t over think it. Look like you, because after the first date you probably won’t put as much effort you did in that first night. Plus, you want to be comfortable. Impress but make sure you don’t overdo it. Simply dress and look like you!
- Don’t act differently: If they don’t like who you are with the first time they really get to sit down and talk with you, they aren’t worth it anyways. Plus, if it gets serious you will have to have a different personality the entire relationship.
- Talking too much: Make sure there is a balance in conversation. You don’t want to talk too much or not enough. The conversation should flow, not be a 20 question session. Talk about you, but make sure you’re interested in knowing them too.
- Being rude: This is a mistake in general. Rude people are never attractive. Remember a person who is mean to the waiter is generally not a nice person.
- Don’t be “needing”: Be simple and laid back. Even if you are needy, and I am, save it for at least the second date. 😉
- Offer to pay for you way: Girls don’t just assume that the guy is picking up the tab. They are not there pay for everything; they’re there to get to know you.
- Guys, pay: Usually it’s the guy’s job to pay for the date, so man up and pay for the meal. Make sure you bring enough cash, don’t get embarrassed by not having enough money at the end of the night.
- Have fun: Even if the night doesn’t go exactly as planned, just have fun. If it turns out you really don’t have anything in common, remember that you don’t have to go out with them again, but don’t waste the moment in time by not having fun or being boring.
