There are so many extra-curricular activities to do at ENMU which is a perk of being a student at ENMU. One of the activities to do here is Rodeo. The ENMU rodeo team is very competitive and they are able to hold their own when it comes time to competing. The rodeo team competes in barrel racing, team roping, breakaway roping, calf roping, bronc and bull riding and other events.
Samantha Smith, from Rimbey Alberta, Canada, is a junior at ENMU majoring in communications and competing as part of the ENMU rodeo team. Samantha decided to come to ENMU because she has an older sister who came to college here and also participated on the rodeo team. Her sister talked to her about ENMU and how much she loved it, Samantha decided she would follow her sister here. She was also attracted to the rodeo team because they are very competitive.
Samantha competes in barrel racing and used to team rope but decided to quit to focus primarily on barrel racing. Samantha says she likes rodeo because, “you can compete as an individual and as a team. You don’t have to rely on others to succeed which I appreciate, but at the same time you have a team full of support behind you. We always like to say that rodeo people are like a big family. If you break down you can count on someone to come help you out, and you’re having a good or bad day you can rely on your friends to help make the day better!”
