Join a Cult, Follow the Mantra of British Metalcore Band

By: Courtney Thatcher

Three years ago, British Metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon (BMTH) released their album “That’s The Spirit,” which, many believed, was going to be their fifth and final full album. It was only when vague signs around London, England started to appear that people began to think the band had more to offer.

There had been several clues that BMTH were working on something big behind the scenes, but no one expected this. On August 10, 2018, a billboard went up in central London in the middle of the night. The billboard posed a question, “Do you want to start a cult with me?” and listed a phone number for people to contact. The question and contact number was the billboard’s only true focus. Upon further inspection of the mysterious advertisement, logos from the band’s previous marketing of albums and merchandise were found in the corners of the billboard, drawing the attention of their fan base. Those who were truly curious to find out what ‘Salvation’ was coming on August 21st stumbled across a “join Mantra” website which counted down to the drop of the band’s new album’s lead single “MANTRA.”

After the release of the long-awaited song, an announcement was made by the band on all their official sites about their new sixth album “amo,” now available for pre-order, and the “First Love World Tour,” show dates starting as soon as November.

Though BMTH has a large fan base in the Metalcore community, many don’t know how this new album will sound or if it will meet their previous sounds expectations. When asked about the new album, lead singer Oliver (Oli) Sykes said, “(It’s) A love album that explores every aspect of that most powerful emotion. It deals with the good, the bad and the ugly, and as a result we’ve created an album that’s more experimental, more varied, weird, and wonderful than anything we’ve done before.” “Amo” is also mentioned to have a “more dance-oriented edge” compared to their previous albums which featured heavy screaming and instrumentals.

The new change in pace is not the only shocking thing that has fans gossiping. Rumors have been circulating about BMTH collaborating with rapper/songwriter Post Malone. The two being close friends is no secret, so many are already looking forward to a feature track appearing on “amo.”

The new lead single has only been public for a few weeks and little news has been said about anymore song debuts, but with tour dates quickly arriving, it is assumed that there will be more to follow shortly. More information about tour dates, tickets, and pre-orders can be found on the BMTH official site, and all news from the band can be seen first on the Twitter page @bmthofficial.
