The 2020 presidential election is right around the corner. Maybe you are nervous, anxious or excited! This year, it seems that everyone has put an emphasis on being involved and promoting that people vote this year.
For most college students, this election can be the first big one that they are able to be a part of. With that being said, people can feel excited that they can be a part of something significant. Is this what adulting feels like? With this ongoing pandemic it has created nervous and anxious feelings. It has also become somewhat more difficult to vote this year. Here are your options:
1. Go in person
You can vote early or on election day at your local polling place. Simply locate your designated polling station by searching “where to vote on election day near me.” Click the first website (vote.org) and select your state. It will then prompt you to enter your zip code and address. The site will tell you exactly where you should go to vote either early or on election day. Make sure to stay safe and wear a face covering when you leave your house, as it is still required in New Mexico to do so.
2. Mail in Your Ballot
First things first, make sure you request an absentee ballot. If you have not already received about ten envelopes addressed from your county clerk to encourage you to request one, then don’t sweat it, you can request one online. Simply search “request an absentee ballot NM” and the first thing you will see is instructions on how to request a mail-in ballot. It is super easy and all you need is your divers license. If you live in New Mexico, you can request an absentee ballot from your county clerk no later than Tuesday, October 20.
Hope that this information provides useful knowledge and tips for you all when it comes to voting! Remember, if you don’t vote then you don’t have the right to complain.
