The new school year can be a time to make and practice new habits. Important habits to manage and maintain throughout the school year are habits that will benefit your studying and homework routines.
Studying can be boring and tedious and homework can be something to procrastinate. Taking time out of the week to work on these two aspects are worth it in the end.
Here are seven tips that can help make studying and homework routines easier:
1. Plan Times for Study/Homework
Try to incorporate study time into the daily routine. Studying for a short time once a day or even every other day can help improve the homework portion of school. Also, establishing a time each day to study can make the stress of studying less painful. This can benefit the mind because it will relieve the mind and hep to mentally prepare for the study session. However, procrastinating during your planned study time is not the best and is ultimately a waste of time.
2. Turn off Your Phone
When the phone is on it can be hard to resist the urge to scroll through social media. Simply turning off the phone or setting it to do not disturb can be a valuable solution when trying to fully concentrate. So, do yourself a favor and shut the phone off to avoid getting stuck in the vortex of social media.
3. Set Small Goals
Studying and completing homework can become difficult if there is no end goal. Be practical and set small goals throughout the week for each study and homework session so that the time will fly by. Practical goals can make for a more successful outcome. It could also be beneficial to start with the more difficult assignments first so that you don’t get stuck trying to get the assignments done on time.
4. Don’t Wait Until Last Minute
Try not to cram everything in at one time. It can be more rewarding to start with the assignments that are difficult and work your way down to the less time-consuming ones. This is because the difficult assignments will typically consist of more work, which means more time needed to complete the assignment. Waiting until last minute to complete the difficult assignments will not produce great work, so start on those earlier.
5. Take A Break
Constantly working on homework or studying can be draining and exhausting. Taking breaks in between assignments to allow the brain to refresh is important. Otherwise, the work that you produce will not be the best and the studying that you do will not be as affective. So, a break between homework and studying will alleviate any anxiety and stress.
6. Find A Good Place to Study
Try to find an environment with little to no distractions. Finding an environment that will help the mind stay focused on the assignments is important. When studying it can be useful to try and study in different places, this can help train the mind to become more adaptable. So, when it comes to taking the test you will be able to drown out the distractions.
7. Utilize Help from Others
Ask for help if you find yourself stuck. It can be difficult during this time but staying in contact with other students in your courses or reaching out to the professor can be useful if you happen to be stuck on a concept in class.
Hopefully these studying and homework tips will help you be successful and keep motivated throughout the semester.
