Chase: What brought you to Eastern New Mexico University?
Cataño: I was offered a volleyball scholarship out of high school and felt that ENMU was a good fit for me. It also helps that it isn’t too far from home, so my family is able to come watch me play when they want.
Chase: What are some of your favorite things about ENMU and the city of Portales?
Cataño: My favorite thing about ENMU is the people. I love everyone that I’ve met here. The friendships that I have made mean a lot to me. I like how close knit the community is here in Portales. It’s not a big city, but I believe it is what you make it.
Chase: Outside of volleyball, what are some of your favorite hobbies and interests?
Cataño: I like to go on runs or hang out with my friends. Every Sunday, we make a trip to Clovis for a movie and popcorn, and that’s really fun.
Chase: In your three years here, what has been your favorite class and why?
Cataño: My favorite class so far has been Media Law with Dr. Chad Painter. It has also been my most difficult class, but it was very interesting. I’m taking Media Ethics right now, and I think this one is even better. It’s a two-and-a-half-hour class, but I love every minute of it.
Chase: If you had the chance to go anywhere in the world to do whatever you want, where would you go and what would you do?
Cataño: I would most definitely go to Brazil and enjoy the ocean and it’s culture.
