The Associated Students of Eastern New Mexico University (ASENMU) allocated $283 to Hailey Vandewiele on March 18 to finance her airfare to and from San Diego, Calif., to attend the March 26-30 Southwest Council of Latin American Studies conference. Vandewiele presented her senior project “He. She. They USA,” which is an integrated performing-arts presentation relating to issues of immigration, particularly the 1.5 Generation from Mexico.
ASENMU unanimously passed a resolution March 25 supporting tailgating for ENMU varsity athletic events. They will now present their resolution to the ENMU administration.
Eastern in Action, which is Saturday, is an annual event that gives ENMU students the chance to give back to the Portales community that gives so much to the university. This year’s theme is “Plant a seed of Generosity for Gratitude to Bloom.”
Elections for ASENMU president, vice-president, and senators, as well as next year’s Homecoming theme will be held till 5 p.m. today. Students can vote online at www.enmu.edu/vote.
ASENMU will be hosting its annual Mud Volleyball Fundraiser Tournament April 26 to help raise money for scholarships for the ENMU Foundation. This year’s theme will be “Movie Stars.” Scholarship prizes will be given to tournament winners, as well as teams for “Best Dress to the Theme” and “Best Team Name.”
“It is a time for the university to come together one last time for the semester in order to raise money and have fun while we’re at it,” said Justin Aguilar, ASENMU director and president.
Registration forms will be available in the Campus Life Office and the ASENMU Office on April 1.
